We would like to say goodbye to Dusty.  Dusty was found in the middle of the road during the snow strom.  We shaved him, fed him every two hours but he was just to far gone.  He left us Friday, February 20th.  We will see him when we cross the rainbow bridge.  Till then he is out of pain and up there now happy and running.

We just got this wonderful update from Freeway's mom.  He went from being thrown out of a mowing car to being loved by a house full of woman.  He is in heaven!

Hi Carol,

I just wanted to give you an update on Freeway. He is living the large life here at the sorority house with all the girls. He was super shy at first but he LOVES that all the girls are here so he can get pets constantly. The girls have given him a new name which he took to right away- Max a Million. He comes to dinner with everyone and tears down the stairs leaving me behind to go see everyone....it is so cute...I may have to get a trainer to help me figure out a way to deal with the anxiety he has when he is left alone. He has a nice kennel and lots of bedding and toys but he just almost goes crazy when he knows I am leaving and he can't come. He is very good and does not damage anything but it breaks my heart to see him be so devastated. There is only about 6 total hours during the week I cannot be with him so it is not that much but I never want to see him worry... I may try doggie daycare while I am in class to see how he likes that...Otherwise he is the best dog ever and I could not be more lucky to have him....
Thanks so much
Laura Ash

Bailey with her new family, the Enoch's.  Mom, Dad and 3 month old sister.  Bailey is 3 months old and the girls will grow up together.

Jeep went to his forever home on February 7.  Where he has a very loving mom, dad and brother to play with.

Bella went to her forever home on 1-24.

Hi Carol,

I took a good picture of Bella and Violet the other day and thought I would sent it to you.  Bella is doing great.  The girls are inseparable which has helped with Bella's training because she copies everything Violet does.  She is such a joy!  We can't thank you enough for bringing her into our lives.

Much thanks,

Dana and Jason

WHAT'S NEW?

LUVFURMUTTS would like to extend a special thank you and welcome to our newest volunteer, Theresa Clark.  You can visit Theresa at
http://www.clarkcanineacademy.com/.   We can't stress enough how lucky we are to have Theresa working with our luvfurmutts fosters and families.  Theresa will be available to answer question for fosters who have a problem with their foster dogs.  Theresa works with many rescues in the Cincinnati area.  Her dedication to helping homeless dogs says a lot for her and the quality of training she provides by really caring about the dogs more then the money.

For any of you who are having problems with your dogs a few weeks with a trainer can mean a lifetime of enjoying your family pet without worry or problems.  Especially for any of you who are thinking of getting or have a puppy.  Theresa has a very economical puppy package that would help you out tremendously with breaking in your new family member without destroying every one's schedule or sleep habits.

You can see her and Brutus below.

Rescues are in dire need of foster families.  The way it works is we supply the crate, food, medical care and you supply the home and love for a homeless dog till the  right family is found for the dog. Many families rescue because they have one dog who is lonesome alone but they cannot afford to take on a second dog.  Fostering can help your pet and the homeless pet too.  All dogs are given an exam by a licensed vet and given all medical treatment prior to being placed in foster homes.
If you can find room in your heart and home to save the life of a dog please click here for a
foster application.

The Rescuer's Creed was sent to us by a friend in rescue.  While we do not know who wrote it we wanted to share it with our supporters.

 The Rescuer's Creed

I promise I will take your unwanted animals.
I will heal their wounds, their diseases, their broken bones.
I will give them the medical attention they need and deserve.
I will nurture their starvation and give them a warm place to sleep.
I will spay and neuter them, vaccinate them against the diseases that can harm them.
I will treat them and honor them. I will buy them toys, blankets, balls, and teach them to play.
I will speak softly to them. I will try to teach them not to fear, not to cry, and not to hate.
I will whisper sweet, kind, gentle words into their ears,
while gently trying to stroke their fear,  their pain, and their scars away.
I will face their emotional scars and give them time to overcome them.
I will socialize them, potty train them, teach them to be obedient,
show them dignity, hold their paws,  and stroke their ears if they
have endured too much and walk them over the Rainbow Bridge,
BUT most of all I will teach them LOVE.

I am involved in dog rescue: my wallet and gas tank are always running on empty, my house is never quiet and free of dog hair, nor is my car, my inbox is full of ongoing despair and misery, but my heart and soul are replenished with unconditional love, loyalty, and joy that can only come from a rescued dog!" ~ Author Unknown
