Always Loved, Never Forgotten
This page is dedicated to the lives that LuvFurMutts tried to save, but unfortunately they passed while in our care. We find comfort in the fact that although they didn't find their forever homes, they didn't die alone or scared. Little did we know, they were in their forever home where God intended them to be when they crossed the rainbow bridge.
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Nina- With LFM from January 23rd - April 23rd
Princess Nina came to LFM from Animal Friends. She had a limp & a lump, so the shelter thought it best for her to go to a rescue. Even though she had some troubles, LFM accepted her with open arms. When Nina went to see the vet for her initial screening, we found out that the lump was cancer and it had spread to her lungs. She also had extreme arthritis in her back and hind legs. Although this was a big blow to the LFM team and to her foster mom, we took heart in knowing she would cross the Rainbow Bridge knowing she was loved… she got adopted by her foster mom. Run pain free my sweet little girl. Mama loves you to the moon and back.
Joey- With LFM from March 29th, 8:31 am - March 29th, 11:35 pm
It is with a very heavy heart I have to announce that baby boy Joey passed to Rainbow Bridge at 11:35pm. They all seemed fine at 10:30pm and when I went back in 1hr later he was by himself cold and not breathing Now Joey and Oliver get to play together at rainbow bridge.
Oliver- With LFM from March 29th, 6:19 am - March 29th, 7:30 am
Little Oliver (2nd puppy) sadly had meconium. He fought strong for over an hour but lost his battle around 7:30. He fought strong since 6:19 but God needed him home with Sammy, Buddha and all the other angels. We did everything we could to try and save him. May Oliver rest in peace.
Sammy- With LFM from January 30th - March 23rd
"With great sadness my baby Sammy crossed the rainbow bridge this morning when he got onto the highway. He was in the northbound lane headed home to me. This is breaking me into pieces, I loved that dog so much. I'm thankful to everyone who donated or helped look for Sammy. Sammy will forever live in his forever home. I love you Sammy RIP someday you'll be buried right next to me where you belong. I'll never understand why things happen the way they do and why I deserve so much hurt. I gave him the best life for a month and he knew he was loved. You will always be in my heart."
We all love you Sammy! Happy trails until we meet again at the Rainbow Bridge.

Buddy- With LFM from September 2013 - December 2015
It is with a very, very heavy heart that we tell you Buddy passed away in his sleep. We want to thank his foster mom for being his forever mom! It takes such a special person to open their hearts to an older dog knowing it may end in heartbreak. We had Buddy three years. No one knew how old he was. When we got him we were told 10 to 14. He died of congestive heart failure. His foster mom took Buddy to the vet Saturday and they did all they could. They were surprised that she had been able to keep Buddy alive this long. With being a senior dog rescue, we really do hope to see that they get a forever home. Happy trails Buddy till we meet again at the Rainbow Bridge.
Buddha- With LFM from July 27th 2015 - July 31th 2015
With tears streaming down my face I am heartbroken to say that Little Buddha passed over the rainbow bridge at 12:45. He fought strong for 5 days but just couldn't hold on. He took a turn for the worst early this morning and just couldn't pull out of it. While I was out to get formula for him Kaylee had to preform mouth to mouth and chest compression's to revive him for the 2nd time. He hung on for 30 more minutes and at that time I tried for 5 minutes giving mouth to mouth and chest compression's but he just was not strong enough to come back a third time. I just pray in the past 5 days we have shown him the love that he deserved and did all we could have done. I am so sorry we let you down Little Buddha you will always be in our hearts. We will forever be glad we were your forever family if only for a short time. God only takes the best!
Sid- With LFM from May 2014 - June 2014
Today at 10:57am Nick & Lauren (photographed here with Old Man), foster parents to Sid, said their final good-byes to our beloved Sid, or as she called him "Old Man" or "Sidders". Sid starting having repetitive seizures and a few other health issues. Ultimately, the vet thinks he had liver failure.
His foster mom writes, "He didn't die lonely or in a cold shelter. He died having Nick and I there telling him how much we love him and how much he changed our lives. Our faces were the last ones he saw, the ones that loved him, not the cowards that dropped him in the shelter's pen at night. Sid was no longer our foster, he was ours. We were his forever family. We loved him as one of our own and he was in pain. Even though Sid was only with us for a month, I believe it was the best month of his life. He became potty trained, he learned to play and he loved going "bye-bye". I will miss him sleeping under the covers with me and how excited he got when Nick or I got home. Sid was a great dog and one I will never forget. When we opened our home to fostering him, I had no idea it meant being there for his last breath. My heart hurts and I will be sad, but I find comfort in knowing he knew what love was, and Nick and I showed him just that. I love you Sid, please play and no longer be in pain. Momma will miss you, Old Man."
Please keep our rescue and our foster parents in your prayers... we have had a rough couple weeks with sick dogs and loosing our beloved fosters.

Scarlet- With LFM From April 2015 - January 2017
Scarlet came from a severe hoarding situation that LFM helped with in April 2015. We believe she was the mother to many of the dogs in the home. She went to her foster home with the expectation of finding a forever home. Little did she know, she already had. Beautiful Scarlet went blind from SARDS. She had already been in her foster home for well over a year. Her foster mom couldn’t see making her change her environment after all that time. Soon after, Scarlet started to lose her sense of smell and then her hearing. Scarlet told her foster mom that she was ready to go to the Rainbow Bridge. Until we meet again, sweet girl.
Sputnik- With LFM from December 2014 - July 2015
No sunshine in the picture for today. I am so glad that tomorrow is another day. I got a call from Sputnik's foster to adopt mom today. He was sick and she was taking him to her doctor. He had to be put to sleep. He was eaten up with cancer. He never acted sick a day, his blood work was great. This is such a shock to all of us. Especially his adopter. A wonderful, lady who just had to put her dog of 12 years down. She only has Sputnik two weeks. But they loved each other. She is heart broken."
So many people loved you Sputnik! And we all hope to see you again at the rainbow bridge! Rest in peace little guy!

Toby- With LFM from July 2010 - July 2015
Toby went down hill rapidly after we had to put our 14 year old lab, Jake, down in December. They were constantly grumbling at each other for four years. Toby started walking with his head cocked about six weeks ago. He was not with us. He would stand in the middle of the floor and stare for hours. Constantly coughing. I am thinking about the happy reunion he is having with Jake today.
Run free of pain over the rainbow bridge, until we see you again Toby! You were loved by so many!

CC- With LFM from June 7th 2015 - June 10th 2015
A tribute to CC. I saw you in that kennel, shaking like a vibrator and showing teeth. I asked the staff if I could get in the kennel with you. There eyes looked at me like I was crazy. They said sure, but are you sure? I said yes. In 35 minutes you were on my lap licking me death and giving me kisses all over. You were so special to me. I am so sorry to announce that C C died after his neuter. I was pretty much a basket case all day. I only had you one night, C C. But I promise you will never be forgotten. I will love you forever and I cannot wait to get to the rainbow bridge to see you again. All my love, Mama Carol
Girlie- With LFM from September 2014 - February 2015
Girlie had a seizure and passed away. We wish we could take the pain away for the foster family that had saved her. Thank you so much for all you did for Girlie. She knew she was loved and very well taken care of the last months of her life. Girlie loved you. If not for you she would have still been in the shelter. You showed her what a good life was like.
Run free Girlie across the Rainbow Bridge.

Cafe- With LFM from August 5th 2014 - August 9th 2014
Sometimes we are called upon to help dogs at the beginning of their journey through life, but more often during the middle of their journey. Rarely are we called upon to help dogs through the end of their lives. Today was one of those rare moments.
Cafe, a beagle mix, arrived yesterday on transport with a large mammary tumor. We knew when we committed to her that she had a tumor, but we were going to help this sweet girl regardless. As soon as we saw her we immediately wondered whether it was malignant based on its appearance.
Cafe was taken to the vet yesterday and was found to have stage 4 metastatic cancer. The cancer had ravaged her body--it was everywhere. This is another perfect example of why you should spay your pets. Your female pet will live a longer, healthier life as spaying (getting your dog fixed) helps prevent uterine infections and breast cancer, which is fatal in about 50 percent of dogs.
At that point, we knew why Cafe came to us--to help her make the transition from her current life to the Rainbow Bridge. And so we did. We stayed with Cafe through the end. In the couple of hours we had her she got to get plenty of hugs and kisses, ate a good meal and felt loved. Cafe mattered to us. She left this earth with dignity and she was the sweetest dog through the very end. Rest in peace, little girl.

Momma Dog- With LFM from February 2014 - July 2014
It is with a very, very heavy heart that I tell you that Momma Dog passed away today. We took her in from Brown County Animal Shelter in January of this year and she had a rough road from the start. We never turned down any treatments the Doctor advised us and did everything we could to improve the quality of her life. She had a leg amputated, painful cysts removed, was treated for being heartworm positive, but in the end, did not make it. Ironically enough, Momma Dog went to a new foster, June two days ago. In those two days, she was apart of a family. She loved playing with her grandchildren, slept in the bed and was one of her own. We thank you June for opening your heart to her. You undertook her as a foster knowing she would take awhile to get adopted, but that didn't stop you. As with Carol Roberts, she knew Momma Dog might be a lifer and cost a lot of money to help, but that didn't stop her. That is why I love helping LFM, we actually help the needy that need us the most, even though it may put us in the poor house.
We are not sure why Momma Dog Passed, her heart was weakened from the heartworms and she was carrying a lot on only three legs. She had been through so much, we are guessing she just couldn't fight anymore.
If you remember, Momma Dog was the star of My Furry Valentine for us. She got so much love and attention and a lot of our wonderful supporters donated towards her leg amputation.
LuvFurMutts has had a tough go lately and to be honest, it makes us angry and sad. First Tiger passing, then Sid and now Momma Dog. It makes us angry that people let their dogs get in such horrible conditions and sadly enough, sometimes no matter what we do to get them treatment, in the end, all we can show them is love from a human and knowing what love truly is.

Tiger- With LFM from June 1st 2014 - June 12th 2014
It is with a very heavy heart that I tell you Tiger passed away at 5pm. His foster mom Carol by his side and did not leave him. He died knowing what love was and he fought a good battle. Tiger barely made it through his dental surgery and since that was battling not having an appetite. He was suffering from renal failure and Carol did EVERYTHING she could to help this guy. She even woke every few hours to give him fluids and today he took a turn for the worse and was too far gone.
We know he is now at the Rainbow Bridge. Rest in Peace little Tiger.
