Facts about adoption fees
We understand that many people are blown away when they find that rescues ask for an adoption donation for homeless dogs. We have heard many times, but I am giving a homeless dog a home, why do I have to pay? The truth is rescues always have more then the adoption donation in most dogs.
Many dogs come to rescues due to illness's they suffered from because their owner did not vaccinate them or give them proper medical care. If a rescue does not see that the animal gets all the necessary medical attention it needs it could be setting the animal up to fail in it's new home due to a health issue. Also, rescues do not want to adopt sick dogs out. Part of a rescues goal is to give the animals the medical and mental prepartaiton they need to make sure they stay in their next home forever.
If you think that the adoption fee is too much call your vet and ask for an estimate on spay/neuter, rabies, heartworm test, microchip, vaccines and dental if needed. These are all things that rescues supply their dogs before they are put up for adoption.
