Sugar

Update 2-6-2010:  Sugar is a very sweet, little lady.  She loves to play with you hands.  She still does not like being picked up so well but she likes being loved on.  If you sit in the floor she will crawl in your lap.  Sugar gets along well with all of her foster siblings.  We have not had her around cats but since she just ignores small dogs we feel she would do the same with cats.

Sugar will turn around and snap if you sneak up on her from behind.  This is a puppy mill trait that she may not ever overcome.  They are so used to being hurt anytime they are grabbed.  She will come to you if you approach her from the front with your hands out to her.

Sugar now

Sugar in February.  Falling off the grooming table and hurting her jaw set sugar back a little.  The poor baby could not eat for a week.  But she came out it and is as friendly as ever now.

Sugar was brought to us after being in two homes where she bite everyone there who tried to touch her.  The first home got her from a puppy mill auction with the intent to breed her.  They did not know how to handle a puppy mill dog so they would grab sugar and she would bite them.
Her second home got her from craig's list.  The previous owner did not mention that Sugar would bite if you grabbed her and sugar bite her,  the old owner said tough we don't want her back.
Sugar was brought to us with graden gloves on her owner.  No one could handle her.  After two weeks she was following her foster mom to play.
We left Sugar in a crate for the first three days and just let her watch what was going on around her.  After three days we left the crate door open so she could come out if she wanted.  For two days she would come out and dart back in when she saw another dog coming. After five days she decided to come out and has went to potty outside every since.

Sugar is okay with visitors and lets people pet her.  Even paws them back for more.  She still cannot be grabbed or she will bite.  We approach her from the front only and with an open hand.  Then she stands there for more and more love.  If we touch her from the back and she does not see us coming she will bolt or turn and snap.
